| A Wrong Policy to Make “Iranian Bombs” Right |
 |
On 15 February, US Secretary of State Condoleezza
Rice and two unidentified senior officials of the State
Department outlined the broad contours of a new
Iran policy that centers on the Islamic regime rather
than its behavior. Dr. Rice made her remarks at a
Hearing of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,
and the officials briefed the media. The policy
centers on international isolation and domestic
destabilization of the regime. The dual pressure is
expected to result in regime change or regime reform.
In either case, a prospective nuclear Iran will be
safer.

| Dr. Ahmad Madani Passed Away |
 |
The National Front of Iran Looses Its Leader. Dr.
Amad Madani died of cancer this February in
Colorado, US. He was 76 years old. The American
Iranian Council sends condolences to the family and
relatives of the late Madani, and to his nationalist
comrades and friends.
Dr. Madani became known to many Iranians after the
revolution in 1979. He ran for the presidency of the
country in the first ever presidential elections. He
received the second highest votes after Dr.
Aboulhassan Banisadr (now in exile in France). Dr.
Madani, an Admiral, became the first commander of
Iran’s Navy after the revolution. He then was
appointed Minister of Defense and Governor of
Khuzestan Province. In exile, Dr. Madani tried to
organize the nationalist Iranians against the Islamic
Republic. He reportedly received funding for the
purpose from the American Government, a move that
made him suspicious in the eyes of even his closest
supporters. Dr. Madani never recovered from the
negative campaigns that his enemies lunched against
him over the money. Dr.Madani will be remembered
for his fine personality and love of Iran.
