  • Nuclear Crisis Calls for US-Iran Dialogue within a Collective 6+1 Framework

Following the meeting with the US, Russia and China in London on 16 January, Britain, France and Germany, the so-called EU Trio, have drafted a resolution that asks Mohammad ElBaradei, director- general of the International Atomic Agency (IAEA), to call for an emergency meeting of the IAEA Board on February 2-3 in Vienna to formally refer Iran to the UN Security Council. The US has said that it fully supports the move and wishes to see Iran “quickly” sent to the Council for “censure and sanctions” now that negotiations with the EU have failed to convince Iran to halt nuclear enrichment.

Tom Pickering is Senior Vice President for International Relations for Boeing. He joined the company and assumed this position in January 2001 upon his retirement as U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs. In this newly created position, Pickering oversees the company's international affairs, including those with foreign governments. “It was always fascinating to me, as the American Ambassador to Israel between 1985 and 1988, that when I talked about the issue [of US-Iran relations] with people like Yitzhak Rabin, he would always tell me that the United States has to find a way to develop closer relationships with Iran. He said Iran is an important country, and we can’t neglect Iran.” Amb. Pickering
“...it was clear, obvious, and self-evident that we wouldn’t have undertaken those kinds of imitatives [Secretary Albright’s speech at AIC’s March 2000 conference] if the objective wasn’t to improve relations with Iran, and it’s perfectly reasonable to assume that full moralization would have been a goal.” Amb. Pickering

The 2005 Prince Claus Award to Ebrahim Nabavi

The American Iranian Council congratulates Ebrahim Nabavi for winning the 2005 Prince Claus Award and wishes him the best in his career.
Ebrahim Nabavi (1958, Iran) is a well-known Iranian journalist and writer, who believes that the satirist’s job is to unmask those who propagate fallacies. During the late 1990s, his articles parodying official speeches and statements, and revealing hypocrisy, lies and transgression, were published in various reformist newspapers. More...

    AIC Update Reader's Feedbacks

My comments regarding the Iranian-Western conflict on uranium enrichment:

The world fossil fuel supply will last for about 70 years. The use of nuclear, solar, wind, and biomass energy will increase by necessity.

Iran has a large uranium supply and with enrichment technology will make it a strong economic competitor to the west in providing nuclear reactors to other nations. This will put Iran on the road to industrialization which further reduces the economic advantage of the West.

If the goal of I.A.E.A. is to prevent the development of nuclear bombs by Iran, it can accomplish this by sending inspectors to all Iranian U-enrichment facilities.

We should be vigilant to prevent the West from destroying Iran in the same way that it destroyed Iraq, which was on its way to industrialization, by criminal policies of putting Saddam Hussein in charge and encouraging him to attack Iran and then Kuwait in order to give USA and its allies an excuse to destroy Iraq in two wars, with G.H. Bush and G.W. Bush as commanders-in-chief.

P.S.Please read "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" by John Perkins to discover the hidden part of US foreign and economic policies.

Most interesting bits and pieces of news put together. It takes a lot of work and effort and I congratulate the group.

The bottomline is that Ahmadinejad is not only ignorant, but a puppet of the Mullahs (unfortunately 'az-bikh-arabs'). Does anyone honestly believe that he was legally elected...and if he was, that Iran deserves what it gets. If the people in Iran are unhappy, they should do something or at least create a powerful and a partriotic leader within the country (if he is not killed) and follow him. Pour carnations and roses in the barrels of the pasdars or whoever and overthrow the current az-bikh-arabs. Either that, or everybody should stop working at all fronts (including oil) and create a dilema and chaos.

There will be a lot of sacrifices made, but the outcome and the future will be good.

Corruption and burglary will be more rampant, but here is where the strong leader will come in handy. The ignorant 'pasdars' and 'basighies' never had it so good and will fight to the end, unless ofcourse the money used for war purposes is used for them.

All said and done...inciting people and letting them know how bad things are in Iran won't have any effect on what's happening in Iran and is not a solution.

Two solutions: Create a strong leader who the people will follow at the risk of their own lives or let an outside force act now as it did when they brought this regime in. Mr. Carter's view was short sighted and now millions of Iranians are paying for his dumb action. The danger is: Iranians will unite when threatened by an outside force (ex. Iran-Iraq war). If that war had not taken place, this regime would have been outsted years ago. The Iranians must be prepared not to have a repeat performance, and the leader has to impress upon the people the idea of Freedom of Speech, Choice, Will and a just society to live and be happy in. The Iranians need to proudly raise their National Iranian Flag and let the world know that they are proud to be Iranians and had a civilized culture that goes several thousand years Before the Common Era (BCE)
and will regain their once proud heritage.

That is my personal view and is not intended to offend anybody.

    cheers
