AIC Meets with President Ahmadinejad





September 25: The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, visited New York city in order to deliver a speech at the United Nations. The American Iranian Council worked to bring several of its members and supporters to meetings with the President at a dinner following the U.N. speech. AIC concerns with the current relationship were expressed. The open and free ranging discussion of the problems and potential solutions to the relationship were clarified to the participating dignataries and guests. -- more

June 25: The American Iranian Council held a conference in New York City with a host of dignitaries from the United States, Iran, Great Britain, Sweden, China, and other nations. Iran's ambassador to the U.N. Mission, Dr. Javad Zarif, also attended. The general purpose of the discussion was to exchange ideas between paricipants in order to gain an improved understanding of the current problems in the U.S.-Iran relationship as well as to explore solutions. -- more



AIC Welcomes Iran's New U.N. Ambassador





July 18: The American Iranian Council is pleased to welcome Iran's new Permanent Representative to the United Nations. Ambassador Khazaee follows the tenure of Dr. Javad Zarif. Before his appointment to the United Nations Mr. Khazaee was Vice-Minister of International Affairs, and also served as President of the Organization for Economic and Technical Assistance in Iran's Ministry of Economic Affairs Khazaee has pledged to clear up all ambiguities about Iran's nuclear program in an attempt to improve U.S. Iran relations.



Although the U.S. and Iran continue to test one another on various fronts, both countries are also moving toward increased dialogue. The two key points upon which the U.S. continues to put pressure upon Iran involve Iran's quest for nuclear enrichment and the Iraq war.
